No Warrant? No Problem ! Not for Washington’s AG after what Olympia Dems just passed!
House Republicans tried to stop Senate Bill 5925 but were outnumbered. In a feirce debate Wednesday night, Rep. Travis Couture, R-Allyn, sounded the alarm over the dramatic expansion of the AG’s power to investigate. The bill creates a system of “Civil Investigative Demands” (CIDs), allowing the state to compel your testimony, seize your records, and demand your private documents before a lawsuit even exists. Couture and other critics warn it allows the government to “fish” for violations based on little more than suspicion, and could be weaponized to target anyone from small business owners and local officials to families and advocacy groups.
