No more $50 checks, Rep. Travis Couture wins faster access to hard-earned pension money for more retirees
On Monday, The House unaimously passed House Bill 2124 from Rep. Travis Couture, R-Allyn, to help more retirees getting small monthly pension payments access their money faster and all at once. Under current law, only pensions of $50 or less per month qualify for a lump-sum payout. HB 2124 raises that amount to $250, reflecting how much costs have changed over time. Speaking on the bill ahead of the vote, Couture said allowing more retirees access to a lump sum payen puts money they can use now to improve their lives, espciallly during our affordability crisis.
