Rep. Travis Couture joins KING 5 to sound alarm over 200% spike in kids involved with DCYF dying or nearly dying in Q1 2025 – over half due to fentanyl
Rep. Travis Couture, R-Allyn, joins KING 5 to detail the dramatic and concerning increase in deaths and near deaths in children under the supervision of the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families, in the first quarter of 2025. According to DCYF, there were 27 deaths and near deaths of children in Q1 2025 compared to 9 in the same period of 2024 – 54% of these critical incidents involved fentanyl.
